It’s our Anniversary!

On October 26, 2019, we opened our doors in downtown Douglas, Michigan!  In some ways, that seems like yesterday and in other ways, it seems like a lifetime ago!

Anna and I are so proud of the small business we are growing—we talk about it all the time.  When we bought the building and cleared it out, we thought, “how are we ever going to fill this space?”  In fact, when we look back at those first few months, we laugh at how little inventory we had.  It did not take long for us to completely rehab the interior to allow for more space.  

We are still growing and still learning.  We are incredibly grateful to our family and friends who helped us get the doors open 3 years ago.  Our goal was to open the day of the Adult Halloween Parade…and we did!  Those friends and family members were running to Crane’s to get donuts and cider, while others were up all-night entering inventory into the point-of-sale system and making price tags.  That was just the 24 hours before we had our Grand Opening.  Many others worked alongside us in the months prior, painting the interior and exterior, laying concrete to level the floor, laying a new floor and putting together furniture.  Wow!  We are so blessed and grateful for all of those people.  

So, what we have learned and what is next?  We have learned (though we already knew) that downtown Douglas is a very special place.  There is something magical in our community and we are happy to be a part of it.  As we embark on another year, we vow to continue to offer you quality, unique, safe products and health-conscious foods.  Maybe there will be a surprise or two!
